The Need

When the sun rises happily from the east to meet wars.
It then sets sadly in the west
When the bright morning appears
And is met with corruption in men
Its brightness fades slowly
A world with happiness and sorrow
All because the sorrowful are ignorant of their rights
They wail because they sufer from "Illiteracy of Rights"
But the time has come to know that your rights is the power you own
To freedom, peace and unity
The time for men to decide on their own is now.
The time for men to also act according to their choices and will without preferences. But only make sure your limitations do not exceed the law.
We must believe in human rights
Because without rights, peace will never prevail.
Therefore fight for your right

Louisa Acheampong (14 yrs)

When will tolerance come?

When will tolerance come?
I keep running from North to South
I can't stop running because there is no tolerance
People are beging slaughtered like animals.
When will this cruelty stop?
War every where and every day
When will tolerance come

I wish tolerance was here
When I hear the sound of gunshots I begin to fear,
At other times soldiers move from house to house
Killing innocent people
Why should we be treated like this
Africa does not deserve this shame
It is my prayer that Africans unite
And make Africa a strong continent
But since there is no unity
There is also no tolerance
When will tolerance come ?

By Prince Divine Badu Antwi

Our mothers are wailing
Our men are praying
The sound of distress, hopelesness and neglect
The sound of their wailings are like a piercing dagger
To my heart, my screams rise up to the highest mountain in Africa.
Is it because we are black? This should not be it.
The system of apartheid has left us nothing but great pain.
We are also humans, and we also have rights.
This should not be a fight.
We are neglected in many ways, they become here and we are hospitable.
We got there and they are hostile.
Political leaders, here they come struggle for leadership has left us lagging behind. I will kill to win, so they say.
The blood of innocent children, the screams and wails of our mothers, they care not. Lest you forget, the people you want to rule are the very people who are dying of hunger and poverty.
Every human has a right and everones right, I know, must be granted !
