In March 2001, Eber Cude and Mary Ann Horvath, Information Technologists, and Dr. Stephen Viola, Special Educator, from University of Missouri participated in a distance learning study tour of Yaroslavl and Moscow. The main purpose of this tour was to establish partnership between schools in Russia and the United States, using Internet and Telecommunications Technology. The University of Missouri and the Yaroslavl Distance Learning Center are making great strides towards the development of the learning society through the use of information technologies. The Russian and American Education Exchange project was a result of this effort. In this project teachers and students from American and Russian schools will have a great chance to discuss different problems. Through this partnership we can look towards the history and culture of other country, to find points of contact, to open different possibilities for self development, to improve the innovations to the education.
